World Mental Health Day is a global day dedicated to raising awareness and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health. At this time in our world, taking care of our own and others’ mental health and wellbeing is essential if we are to make progress toward our broader goals. USAID, other US and international agencies, global non-profits, and businesses are taking note of the importance of mental health and taking measures to address the issue.

As we observe World Mental Health Day, it is imperative to recognize that mental health is an essential component of human resilience and recovery. By leveraging innovative technologies, fostering community-based programs, and prioritizing mental health in humanitarian responses, we can begin the long process to address the mental health crisis across the world. Mental health is an essential component of recovery and resilience and should be considered a priority for development practitioners and the communities in which they work.
