Zahabya graduated from Bryn Mawr College with a Political Science and Russian Studies double major in 2017. Combining her interests of international relations and Russian language, Zahabya was able to study abroad and/or intern in Saint Petersburg, London, and Vilnius, which then culminated in a fifth academic year in Almaty, Kazakhstan as an NSEP Boren Scholar. Prior to joining Chemonics International, Zahabya was part of the SID-Washington team and managed SID-Washington's annual events and communications.
Zahabya is currently a Senior Associate (Project Management Unit) for the Europe and Eurasia region at Chemonics International. She works on two Project Management Units: USAID Democratic Governance East Activity (DG East) and USAID/Kosovo Economic Governance Activity (KEGA). DG East is a five-year initiative that aims to strengthen the connection and trust between citizens and their government in eastern Ukraine. KEGA is also a five-year initiative with the aim to improve self-reliant, inclusive, governance of the business environment and strengthen public financial management to facilitate economic growth.
Outside of work Zahabya volunteers at American Councils for International Education as a scholarship evaluator for two youth exchange programs sponsored by the State Department - the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) Program and the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program.
