SID-Washington Welcomes Ambassador Mark Green as USAID Administrator

The Society for International Development, Washington Chapter (SID-Washington) welcomes the U.S. Senate’s confirmation of Ambassador Mark Green as Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
USAID requires highly qualified, strategically oriented, and politically attuned leadership if it is to serve its critical function advancing U.S. foreign policy objectives and supporting international development priorities. As Administrator, Ambassador Green must underscore the importance of America’s international development agenda as a pillar of U.S. national security and global engagement. U.S. leadership in the international development arena is crucial to achieving a more stable world built around willing, resolute allies and growing international economies that in turn support the continued freedom, security, and prosperity of the U.S. homeland.
In his confirmation hearing, Ambassador Green articulated a compelling case for USAID’s continued leadership in tackling the world’s development challenges. He stated, “I believe that USAID is an asset to our national security and the global face of American generosity.” He continued, saying, “Years of experience and learning have shown me that fostering development is hard. But if done right, and led well, it can not only help lift lives and strengthen communities in far off lands, but also help America achieve many of her strategic priorities.”
We look forward to working collaboratively with Ambassador Green as he takes on the challenges so important to America and the world.
