Peter Doyle is an experienced team leader and program director with more than 25 years of experience in development and environmental management. As chief of party for USAID's recently completed BIOREDD+ program, he reinforced Colombia's efforts to sustainably manage and utilize environmental assets in adapting to climate change, preserving biodiversity, and promoting economic growth. Mr. Doyle oversaw the successful implementation of BIOREDD´s artisanal mining component, developing new partnerships between central, regional and municipal government entities involved in mining, three
private mining companies and 24 small miner associations that led to the formalization of 83 illegal mines, improved environmental management, and the restoration of degraded land. He also led the development and successful international validation of a portfolio of eight voluntary REDD+ Projects to generate carbon credits for private sector investors on Colombia´s Pacific Coast. This is the largest initiative of its type in the world to date. Mr. Doyle previously served as deputy chief of party for the USAID Alternative Development Program in Peru. He also led a USAID-funded rapid response watershed rehabilitation and forestry program in Honduras. He holds an M.A. in economics from the University of Manchester and a B.S. in economics from City University in London.
