For the past seven years, Ms. Subekshya Karki has been actively engaged in working for education sector in Nepal. During this period, she have gained knowledge on different educational themes and pertaining issues related to and built capacity to deal with them. In her current role as an Inclusive Education Technical Advisor at Handicap International Nepal, she has been involved in developing proposal and concept notes on Inclusive Education, providing technical support in developing strategies and policies for Inclusive Education in Nepal, developing inclusive education training manual, parent’s orientation guideline, and prototype learning materials in close coordination with Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) and Centre for Education and Human Resource Department ( CEHRD)
The inclusive education concept sees all children as being equal, but in reality the curriculum, pedagogy, teaching materials and technologies are not disabled-friendly. Ms. Karki has been working closing with the government and participating in different forum and raising her voice to make curriculum, textbooks, learning materials, assessment and pedagogy suitable to the specific needs of children with disabilities.
