Ms. Lee Sutton is an experienced and innovative Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) professional known for designing and leading impactful measurement systems, analysis of outcomes and impacts, and improved organizational effectiveness. Her intentional approach helps organizations, foundations, government contractors, and socially responsible corporations tell a story to the people who can advance their mission. As a systems thinker, she believes deeply in the causal relationship/link between outcomes and project design. Ms. Sutton’s core philosophy has helped humanitarian and international development organizations make informed assumptions about the connections between people, activities, and results to make a positive and sustainable impact in society.
Currently working as the Senior Advisor for Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning at Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC), Ms. Sutton works across all CIVIC’s projects to improve monitoring, evaluation, and learning throughout the organization. She brings extensive MEL experience on humanitarian, stabilization, transition, and development projects, with a focus on conflict and post-conflict environments. She has spent extensive time working in Africa (DRC, Burundi, Chad, Ghana, Mali, Ethiopia, Sudan, Kenya), Asia (Afghanistan, Pakistan) and the Middle East (Egypt, Tunisia, Iraq, Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Gaza/West Bank, Yemen). She previously worked for MEASURE Evaluation, International Medical Corps, Creative Associates, and AECOM International Development (now DT Global). She also served in Americorps/City Year in Seattle. Ms. Sutton holds an MA in Sustainable International Development from the Heller School at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA and a BA in International Political Economy from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA.
