Dr. Mount-Cors provides technical leadership on early childhood through adolescent and youth development, early grade reading, literacy, gender analysis, girls’ and women’s education and empowerment, curriculum-building, technology, and capacity building. In her current work as Technical and Team Lead for EdIntersect on the Lecture Pour Tous early grade reading program in Senegal, Dr. Mount-Cors and her team have conducted small EGRA studies with students who are blind or have low vision in two inclusive schools in Senegal. Dr. Mount-Cors has conducted research, evaluation, training, facilitation, and strategic planning with an array of funders, including USAID, the World Bank, DFID, as well as with implementing partners including Room to Read, Chemonics International, Winrock International, School-to-School International, Education Development Center (EDC), Banyan Tree Foundation, Gates Foundation, Palladium, CARE USA, Creative Associates, and ChildFund International. Her book, Global Literacy in Local Learning Contexts: Connecting Home and School, was published by Routledge in 2016. During her 25-year career in comparative and international education and global education development, Dr. Mount-Cors has worked on evaluation, research, program development, implementation, research, teaching, and teacher training in Africa, Asia, Pacific region/Oceania, Latin America and the Caribbean, and North America. She has worked in Senegal, Rwanda, Kiribati, Tuvalu, Mali, Zambia, Somalia/Somaliland, Jamaica, Kenya, Afghanistan, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Benin. She is a native speaker of English, fluent in French and Spanish, and with basic proficiency in Kiswahili and Fon. Dr. Mount-Cors has a Ph.D. in Education from the University of North Carolina (at Chapel Hill), M.A. in French from NYU, and B.A. in Religion with a Concentration in International Studies from Davidson College.
