Doug Franke is a US CPA and the Managing Director/Partner of SustainAbility Solutions Africa, a specialist consulting firm that assists international and local donors, foundations and their recipients with training, financial management, sustainability, strengthening and special purpose audits.  Prior to founding SSA/SSPC (SSPC is the US Based Auditing firm related to SSA) he worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers for 25 years serving 12 years as the International Development Aid Partner in Southern Africa.  His financial management consulting experience has extended world-wide, having been Project Director and Chief of Party on numerous engagements throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Australia and the U.S.  His clients have included private and public sector entities including CDC, USAID, DFID, RNE, SIDA, The Global Fund, CIDA, the World Bank, OECF, Norwegian Red Cross, and JAIDO as well as individual governments. 

Mr Franke's consultancies have included project management and financial audits, US Government-related training (both in-house and open courses), systems design and implementation, needs assessments, staffing, and personnel utilisation studies, property control and logistics, and IT financial management systems.  He has managed multi-million dollar investment accounts and has overseen multi-country, multi-disciplinary long term projects.  Additionally, he has had extensive consultancies throughout Africa, including stints in Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Ghana, Swaziland, Lesotho, Namibia, Egypt, Sudan, Mauritius, Burundi, DRC, Botswana, Mozambique, and Malawi.  He served as President from 2009-2011 and continues to sit on the board as an Exco member of the American Chamber of Commerce of South Africa. For three years he chaired the Amcham Health and Wellness committee.   He also serves on the Risk and Audit committees. He served two years as Vice Chairman of the South African Institute of Directors (IOD) Sustainable Development Committee.  He served as Chairman of the Board of Right to Care, South Africa’s largest NGO ART provider, for two years.  He serves on the Finance Committee of the American International School of Johannesburg. He is the Managing Partner of a Michigan-based Public Accounting firm (SSPC) which focuses on performing US Government Yellow Book audits and training for overseas aid recipients.
