Claudia Schwartz leads the off-grid energy portfolio at the U.S. African Development Foundation, which has funded over 100 energy enterprises in thirteen countries. Prior to USADF she was involved in the start-up of Qorax Energy, a solar company based in Somaliland; and worked for the international NGO Pact while based in Nairobi, Washington and Addis Ababa. She has also been detailed to USAID as part of the Power Africa initiative and was a graduate intern at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation. She holds a master’s degree in development economics and international business from the Fletcher School at Tufts, where she wrote her master’s thesis on private electricity infrastructure investment. She holds a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Brown University.
