Claudia D'Andrea is a political economist over 20 years of experience from community level engagement to country level strategic planning in resource management, PEA, monitoring and evaluation, assessments and training. For USAID's Forest and Biodiversity Office she has been providing guidance to strengthen thinking and working politically in biodiversity programming to more effectively address threats to biodiversity, improve resource governance and strengthen development outcomes. In consulting work in Peru, she developed a program to address needs for improved legality, sustainability, and inclusiveness in the forest sector through field level analysis of the chain of custody for timber products. She piloted USAID's Applied PEA framework to strengthen biodiversity programming in the context of oil, mining, and other extractives in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Madagascar. Dr. D’Andrea has a PhD in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MA in International Economic and International Relations from SAIS, Johns Hopkins University.
