With more than 10 years of work experience in the humanitarian and development sector, 7 with the UN System, Chris started a two-year mid-career fellowship at Duke University in August 2017, after leading the United Nations Relief, Reintegration and Protection of Civilians section in Unity State (South Sudan). Previously, in November 2014, he joined the Global Emergency Ebola Response as the UN Coordinator of the NERC Situation Room and Liaison Officer between the Government of Sierra Leone Crisis Centre and the United Nations Mission for Ebola Response (UNMEER), and subsequently with the World Health Organization (WHO) working on Recovery and Transition. In addition, he brings to this SID event his background on humanitarian/political affairs gathered through his work with UN-OCHA Geneva (Emergency Services Branch), UN-OCHA New York (Coordination Response Division), and Programme Management with the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, working on humanitarian demining (UNMAS) at HQ and field levels. Chris has also worked as a Protection Specialist with the state of Florida. Chris is Colombian.
