Chisom Okechukwu is part of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Development Policy and Finance Team that works on a range of development finance issues. Her specialisation is in developing country public finance and her work covers an array of issues from public finance management and reforms and domestic resource mobilisation to natural resource governance and optimization. Before joining the foundation, she was Special Adviser to the Chair of the GAVI board where amongst other things she supported the Chair with GAVI's work on the sustainability of its programming and increasing the organization's engagements with Finance Ministries. She started her career at the Federal Ministry of Finance in Nigeria as an Adviser to the Minister providing research to inform policy design and was a key member of the team that led the government’s efforts to design an economic reconstruction plan for North Eastern Nigeria in response to the Boko Haram insurgency. Chisom received her BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and her MSc from the University of Oxford.
