Mr. Hampton currently serves as Director of International Relations for SIL International. He first entered service with SIL in 1995, bringing with him sixteen years of vital professional experiences. Prior to his work with SIL, he served in challenging engineering and management roles for Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Caterpillar Incorporated, and the Black and Decker Corporation. He began his professional career as an officer in the United States Navy.
Mr. Hampton began his SIL experience as a management intern at the headquarters of SIL International in Dallas, Texas. In the summer of 1996, Mr. Hampton, his wife Theresa, and their four children moved to Southeast Asia. After successful completion of SIL’s Asia Field Training Course in the Philippines, the Hamptons moved to Thailand to begin field service with the Mainland Southeast Asia Group (MSEAG) of SIL. He traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia while serving in various SIL field leadership and management roles, including six years as Director for SIL in this five country region. From April of 2010 until his return to the United States in 2011, he provided leadership for SIL efforts to develop a direct relationship with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Mr. Hampton has served on various boards of directors in the Southeast Asia region, most notably as Board Chairman for the international NGO consortium, International Cooperation Cambodia (ICC). Mr. Hampton holds a Master of Arts degree in the field of international relations (MA in Diplomacy) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering (BSIE). He has also completed a Graduate Certification Program in Teaching and Learning.
