Global Trauma Project supports local change-makers in reducing complex trauma by training, mentoring, and certifying trusted community members to facilitate trauma-informed programming in a manner that is accessible, culturally-relevant, and proven to show significant impact.
Anita Shankar believes access to relevant mental health resources is a social justice issue. As Senior Director of the Global Trauma Project, she utilizes the Trauma-Informed Change Making (TICM) Model and the Trauma-Informed Community Empowerment (TICE) Framework to build the capacity of community leaders to heal from and prevent trauma and stress. Her 25 years of public health experience is influenced by the fields of popular education, youth development, harm reduction, and positive sexuality. Anita earned her Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and Bachelor’s in International Development from the University of California, Berkeley.
