Ms. Lauer is a member of the Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) Senior Management Team (SMT) and serves as the Division Chief for Program Support. In this capacity, she manages OFDA's budget, information management, contracts and grants policies and processes, human resources, audit, risk management, and information technology functions. As a member of the SMT, Ms. Lauer helps steer the strategic direction of the office, including OFDA’s proactive push to address sexual misconduct through a survivor-centered approach, as well as shaping OFDA’s future as part of USAID’s transformation agenda.
She began her 17 year career with USAID as a Presidential Management Fellow. During her time at USAID, she has had the opportunity to work in various countries around the world including Haiti, Egypt, South Africa, Eritrea, Kenya, Namibia, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Thailand, and Nepal. She led the DC-based components of OFDA's responses to the Haiti earthquake, the Haiti cholera outbreak, and Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. In July of 2018, she completed a six-month detail as the OFDA Acting Deputy Director.
Prior to joining USAID, Ms. Lauer worked for Accenture, where she gained extensive experience in information technology and financial management consulting. Ms. Lauer received both her Bachelors of Science degree in Foreign Service and her Masters of Science degree in International Development from Georgetown University. In her free time, she volunteers with the Anne Arundel SPCA and enjoys spending time with her own three dogs and family in the Annapolis area.
