Matthew Bare is an independent consultant in climate and sustainable agriculture. He supports organizations to develop and implement climate strategies, including climate-smart agriculture, greenhouse gas emissions measurements, and market incentives for sustainable production. He was previously the Director of Climate and Environment for ACDI/VOCA, where he advised the organization’s work with USAID and other partners to mainstream climate mitigation and resilience across agriculture and economic growth projects. Prior to joining ACDI/VOCA, Matthew worked with Rainforest Alliance, advising companies on regenerative agriculture, farmer livelihoods, and monitoring and evaluation in the coffee, cocoa, and banana sectors. He holds a master’s degree in forestry from the Yale School of the Environment at Yale University and an MBA from the University of the Andes (Colombia), and was a US Peace Corps volunteer in Ecuador.
