Initially trained as a physician, is a public health expert and an international development professional with over 22 years of expertise in the private and public development sectors. He has a proven record of successfully leading and executing service delivery, capacity development and organizational sustainability programs. Core areas of his expertise include maternal and child health, private sector development, health system strengthening, contract management, and strategic/operational planning. He has served in several senior roles supporting USAID funded programs in Afghanistan, including his tenure as a former Chief of party (COP) and as a senior advisor for the USAID Mission in Afghanistan. He is currently working as Technical Director for the Local Health System Sustainability (LHSS) project in Afghanistan, funded by USAID and implemented by Abt Global.

Hed, his spouse and their five kids are settled in Alexandria, VA. He loves Indian food. He enjoys taking evening walks in the park near their residence. He is a great fan of cricket (although he never plays it) and likes to watch documentaries.
