Alexander Lotsch serves as the Senior Climate Change Specialist in the Agriculture and Food Global Practice at the World Bank, Washington DC. In this role, he is instrumental in directing strategic initiatives related to climate finance and climate analytics. His previous tenure at the Bank's Climate Change Group saw him spearheading projects and analytics on nature-based solutions, forestry, land management, and the transformation of food systems. Before this, he was part of the Environment, Natural Resources and Blue Economy Global Practice in Hanoi, where he led innovative, jurisdiction-wide programs aimed at reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation. Before his engagement with the World Bank in 2004, Alexander worked with NASA and the Environmental Systems Research Institute. He holds a PhD in Earth System Science from Boston University and has earned undergraduate degrees in Physical Geography and Agricultural Sciences from the Free University and Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany.
