Ama Okigbo is a rising leader passionate about economics, international development and gender equity. She is currently pursuing a degree in Economics and International Relations at Wellesley College. This summer, Ama serves as an Intern at the Society for International Development – United States (SID-US), where she supports with research, data analysis, administrative tasks, and communications. She is also the founder of Girls Across Borders, a global platform that connects girls across more than a dozen countries for positive change and social impact. They engage in critical dialogue and collaborative action on global issues impacting women and marginalized communities.

Raised in Nigeria, Ama’s early experiences navigating complex social and economic landscapes instilled in her a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by developing countries. This upbringing fuels her dedication to equity-driven development and amplifying the voices of underrepresented individuals. Ama’s commitment is reflected in her leadership, writing, and advocacy. She has authored numerous essays on gender and development, and her work continues to center the voices and potential of young women in shaping a more just and inclusive global future.
